Obituary of Mary Alice Smothers

Mary Alice Smothers, age 67, passed away peacefully on December 6, 2020 at Bishop Rehabilitation and Nursing Center with her loving daughter and son by her side in Syracuse, New York.      

She was born on May 20, 1953 in Rock Point, Maryland to John Wade Smothers and Annie Cecilia Smothers. Mary graduated from La Plata High School in 1971.  After high school, she relocated to Syracuse, New York and was a longtime employee of Boorum & Peace. While studying at Bryant and Stratton, Mary became very involved in her children's education and extracurricular activities.  She volunteered often at their school and was a positive role model in her community. 

Mary and her longtime companion Big John "Bubba" Frank Cannon raised two beautiful children, Travis Cannon and Shardae Cannon. Mary is survived by her by son, Travis (children, Travis Cannon Jr. and Kalyse Cannon) daughter, Shardae (children, preceded in death by Shailand Foster and Jace Foster) and one great-grandchild.
